The Feol-Hinricher Companies have partnered with CarbonFund.org to create the first Green Real Estate Investing program in Memphis, Tennessee. Dubbed, FH Green, the program is intended to offset the average negative carbon impact a tenant has on a rental property. While buying real estate and renovating it offers a significant positive impact on the local economy, we realized we were not doing enough to impact the environment in a positive way. Through the strategic partnership with CarbonFund.org, The Feol-Hinricher Companies have set up the FH Green program to give real estate investing clients the opportunity to pay for the carbon credits needed to offset the cost their tenants will have on the environment. The credits purchase go towards reforestation in the Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana.

This is the first step in the effort to green the real estate investment industry in Memphis. Future plans call for the option for an investor to do an entirely green rehab on a property. The process is made simple for the investor. At time of sale of the property, the investor will have the option to participate in the program. The cost can be added to the purchase price of the property. Feol-Hinricher Companies will then purchase the credits in the name of the investor. The investor will receive notification of the purchase plus a certificate signifying the purchase and additional materials from CarbonFund.org. |
